Beacon Hill Striders is an independent training group open to all ambitious cross-country runners of secondary school age (11 to 19) in Leicestershire. Beacon Hill Striders offers an athlete-centred approach to the development of young distance runners. Training sessions, designed to develop speed, strength and stamina are conducted each week under the guidance of a former international athlete and county senior cross-country champion. Training takes place at a number of venues in and around the Charnwood Forest area of Leicestershire.

  • Membership of the Beacon Hill Striders training group is FREE!
  • Just turn up and run!

From September 2008 we are operating with a Core Group of athletes who have commited themselves to train with us on a regular basis. Athletes who are not members of this training group are welcome to join our training sessions as "guests". If you would like to come along to any of our sessions just contact the group co-ordinator for further information.

(Note: guest runners who train with us regularly may be offered the opportunity of joining our core group)

This week's training/racing sessions:

  • Wednesday, August 27th: Charnwood Waters, Loughborough @ 6.30pm.
  • Saturday, August 30th: Quorn Cricket Ground @ 10.30am.
  • Sunday, August 31st: "Stars of the Future" Track meeting, Loughborough from 11.00am.

Beacon Hill Striders are keen to work with others and support initiatives which encourage and support young athletes who wish to compete at cross-country, track and road running. Our hosting of the Leicestershire Secondary School Cross-Country League web-pages is an example of this commitment to promote our sport. If you or your organisation would like to talk to us about how we might be able to support you in similar ventures then please contact the group co-ordinator.
