GENERAL INFORMATION:

Conditions of Entry:

  • Only schools and individuals affiliated to LRSAA are eligible to compete.

Age/Gender Groups:

  • There are four age groups for both boys and girls
  • The four age groups are: Year 7; Juniors (Years 8&9); Inters (Years 10&11); & Seniors (Years 12&13)
  • Inter & Senior competitors compete together in the same race, but results are separated after each race
  • Inters & Seniors should wear a number (provided by the organisors) to indicate whether they are Senior or Inter competitors

Results:

  • Result slips should be completed (with an athlete's full name, school & finishing position) and handed in after each race
  • Results will be published on this website and circulated to schools soon after each race

Trophies:

  • Winning teams in each of the age/gender categories will receive a trophy to keep for the year
  • Members of the three top teams in each of the age/gender categories will be given a medal and certificate
  • The top three individual runners in each of the age/gender categories will receive a medal and certificate
  • The best scores and performances from 4 of the 5 League races will be used to determine team and individual positions
  • In the Year 7 Girls & Junior Girls categories, 4 runners score for each team
  • In the Inter & Senior Girls categories, 3 runners score for each team
  • In the Year 7 Boys & Junior Boys categories, 6 runners score for each team
  • In the Inter & Senior Boys categories, 3 runners score for each team

English Schools' Team Selection Criteria:

  • County Teams for the English Schools Championships compete @ Junior, Intermediate, & Senior levels
  • Eight places are available in each qualifying age/gender category
  • The top 3 individual athletes in each qualifying age/gender category in the League will automatically be selected (4 from 5 races count)
  • The top 2 individual athletes in each qualifying age/gender category in the Schools' County Championships will also be selected
  • The remaining places will be decided upon by performances across the season: in league, county championships, and inter-county races 
  • Athletes who are unable to compete in races, due to illness/injury etc., should send a written explanation to the Cross-Country Secretary by Friday, February 11th. (Their explanation will then be considered if they are in contention for a place)
  • Selected athletes will be expected to travel to the English Schools on the team bus (and stay overnight in the team hotel if required to do so)
